The only downsides to steel doors:
- While there are a number of quality simulated textures, they can’t compete with real wood for that natural look

Some downsides to wood doors:
- More expensive option
- Requires periodic maintenance to repaint/stain in order to maintain weather-resistant properties (about as often as you’d repaint the exterior of your home)
